Ahí estoy en un atril de la sala de la UNESCO y a mi lado una pantalla con una de las imágenes de mi presentación en la que aparece en título gordo: fallacies. Y luego dice: Traditional knowledges that have been overriden by Official Scientists, or even covered up. Mayan doomsday, other astronomical doomsdays, most of then make argumenta ad verecundiam, ad autoritatem, and other well know logical fallacies... not to tal about alien visits, alien invasions, alien abductions...

Historians are still decoding the complex calendar system in the Dresden Codex. Who knows what information was in the many other lost Mayan manuscripts.

All of this was done using centuries of carefully recorded, naked eye observations. 🧪

I find this remarkable:

The Dresden Codex, one of the few surviving Mayan manuscripts, contains tables that give highly accurate timings of solar eclipses over more than 700 years, from 350 CE to the 12 century. 🧪🔭

Whistle in the form of a Dignitary; Island of Jaina style. Figure stands with arms crossed and feet spread well apart. The costume consists of a short, two-tiered skirt with a wide panel descending to feet in center front. Stylized hair with feathered headdress, pectoral, earrings. The face is well modelled, with arched nose and flattened brow. A whistle, modelled in left shoulder blade, makes clear musical note when blown. Painted in blue, red, black,and white. An unusually fine example. This elaborate whistle takes the form of a high-ranking Mayan man. The figure's face, arms, and legs are painted red in imitation of the iron oxide paints used to adorn elite community members. His carefully rendered garments illustrate the traditional elements of early Mayan prestige dress: a short layered skirt, long apron (tilma), elaborate headdress, and distinctive earrings. The distinctive profile of this figure also reflects physical alterations practiced by elite Maya males of this era to achieve an ideal of physical beauty. Babies' heads were bound to flatten and elongate them, in an effort to align the forehead with the tip of the nose. Hair was plucked to raise the hairline and add to the illusion of elongation. Prostheses were sometimes worn on the bridge of the nose to further assist in creating the desired profile.

So much art out there is influenced by mayan / indigenous visuals and colors and symbolism, it’s difficult to see the threads connecting everything but they’re there, the same way music wouldn’t be the same without an African American approach to percussion and structure

They haven't come from a far foreign continent...
They and their ancestors long before Europeans arrived came from here. Aztec, Mayan culture is American culture.

My cousin used to live in New Jersey and then NYC now he's Upstate New York on a farm. He also did some kind of dialect work of ancient Mayan ruins or something?🤔 He worked on the movie Contact. He is now a public defender in Upstate New York with Bunches of animals. He's talented and brilliant.

I find it very interesting that the proposed city will be a botanical garden based on Mayan heritage and its connection to the natural and sacred world. While I appreciate Mexico's recognition of its culture and past, I find it concerning that a non-Mayan architect is in charge of the project.
