I was the only one with a baby.

📣 Reminder for line managers: 📣 It is illegal to put through an unsuccessful performance review on the basis that someone has been off on maternity leave. Apparently several line managers do not know this!

But then again.... Emma Sheppard reminds us how complicated and personal this issue is - her experience of returning as a new parent was being encouraged to go home early, not take on anything extra, 'take it easy' - which wasn't in her best interests, especially in terms of career progression. 🍎🎓
Note of caution - for some women returning post-maternity leave, their level of experience and competency means they are often relied upon and lent on by schools more than is perhaps proportional or reasonable can be a push factor causing overwhelm/burn out.
