Dry pavement on Lake-Marshall Bridge and all streets and paths I was on this morning. Lights on W River Pkwy working from Downtown to Bohemian Flats and Lake to S 4th St. Bohemian Flats to S 4th St still all dark. No ground level fog that I could see. #MSPCycleCast #MNWX

It’s not raining that hard and it’s not yet that cold. With my rainproof jacket, I’m totally dry up top. My pants will dry in an hour and my wool gloves will have dried by the time I get off work!

A lovely ride in to work today. Crisp, but not windy. Perfect chance to practice your layering skills if you wanted to try riding into late Fall or even Winter

Somewhat foggy on the bike ride into downtown Mpls today. #mspcyclecast

#mspcyclecast looking like the gravel on Bryant Ave S is going to be cleaned up tomorrow, no parking signs have been put out on the street. There are markings on the pavement for South of 46th so we're not totally in the clear yet

What if… instead of dealing with toxic air every other week for the rest of our lives… we did something about this whole climate change thing?

I hate that my kids are growing up in a world literally & figuratively on fire.

They, and we, deserve better.

Air quality alert for all of Minnesota through Saturday
A northerly wind flow will send multiple waves of Canadian wildfire smoke into Minnesota for the next few days. Air quality will reach the unhealthy range for most of Minnesota.

Special summer edition of #MSPCycleCast:

1) obv bad air quality due to wildfire smoke.

2) chip sealing on Bryant is causing intersections to be very messy & potential slip/fall hazards for bike/peds. Watch out!

#MSPCycleCast Sure you could wear rain gear, but I embrace the Summer rain in sandals and bring a change of clothes
July 16, 2025 at 12:39 PM
#MSPCycleCast A bit rainy, but with full coverage fenders and a little red cape, perfectly rideable

It is very windy. Powerfully windy!

Looks like the snow is really starting to stick in St. Paul #mspcyclecast
March 30, 2025 at 10:07 PM
Future #mspcyclecast fish hatchery trail in St Paul will be closed april-october 2025. Make sure you bring your spinny gear (or climbing legs) for the detour!

Made it!

Some intersections on Blaisdell were super messy from cross plowing, but the Greenway was perfection.

Park Ave was fine, though I had to take the lane a few times due to built up slush/ice in the bikelane. And some tricky intersections on Park Ave. ☀️, do your thing today!

Side streets are nearly impossible. Half of the snow emergency roads were bumpy as fuck. Bikeways are a bit of a mixed bag — but are better than most streets. #MSPCycleCast

I have no plans to leave my home today, so just boosting others’ reports. 😆

I can report that many plows have worked on 1st Ave S already. Bikelane has compacted snow but looks very rideable.
Biking was slow and intersections inconsistently plowed, but Blaisdell in fair plowed shape & made it in about twice the time.

Park Ave was decently bikable this morning. I just wish I hadn’t brought my E bike into the shop because my backup bike did get stuck on a couple snow mounds. #mspcyclecast

#mspcyclecast wtf it wasn’t supposed to snow until later. Anyway it’s not that bad, warm enough that it’s not slick.

#MSPCycleCast: The storm is coming (rain has arrived)!

The forecast for the next 36 hours is pretty weird (rain, 55mph wind, 4-7” snow).

Might be good to opt for another mode of travel tonight & tomorrow morning. Or staying home, if you can!

I'm so relieved that in a lot of MN it's thawed off so nice and we can actually bike in the bike lanes again instead of having to take the lane a bunch. #mspcyclecast
Great message from the Bike Mayor of Winnipeg:
youtube.com/shorts/VIiee...

#wintercyclists don't want to be on the road but sometimes the bike lanes aren't properly cleared so we have no option. You can help us not be in the way by advocating for better infrastructure and snow clearing.

We don’t want to be on the road either #wintercycling

Really quite wonderful out. Lots of melt, so another reason you should get full coverage fenders #NotJustForRain

Also FYI: The Stone Arch Bridge was fully open today. No idea how long that will last, but maybe you could use it tomorrow(?)
