Today is November 11th, Veterans Day in the US. The armistice ending World War I took effect on November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m. This was my grandfather’s (he got a similar medal for the Second World War).
I was flying medical evacuation in Afghanistan 84 years later. On and on.

The Presidential Medal is third rate.
Trump: We gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It’s much better than the Congressional Medal of Honor because soldiers get the Congressional. And they’re in very bad shape because they're dead. She gets it and she's a healthy, beautiful woman. And they’re rated equal

Trump takes the dignity and respect out of every American tradition he touches. So many things about America always made me proud but Trump is killing them off one by one. The Kennedy Center, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Super Bowl (just by showing up), and now this. He is sickening.

Winter Games Fact #278: American snowboarder Lindsay Jacobellis won her second snowboarding medal 16 years after her first. Jacobellis nearly won the first-ever gold in Snowboardcross in 2006, but fell while doing a trick and took silver. 16 years later, redemption finally occurred w/ a gold medal.

I'd call this performative nonsense, except it is sad to see that she's likely instilling in her (innocent) kid behavioral values that will not serve him well later in life.

(Also, what does it mean to "excel at math" in pre-k!? Are even future Fields Medal winners THAT much ahead at age four?!)

Yeah he did, and I'm glad he made it through the war. He never seen me or my dad play Medal of Honor: Frontline, which course my dad wouldn't show him anything depicting the war, but the theme song always makes me think of him.

They Dodged Bullets and Saved GIs: WWII nurses are still awaiting the Congressional Gold Medal 80 years after service. While other groups have been honored, a bill for these nurses has stalled. Recognition is in a desperate footrace against the obituary column for the few survivors left.
