The Prime Minister has promised us bigger railcards and Edmonds: normal countries would be chuffed to bits with this.

But unfortunately Swinney has poisoned the discourse, and the threat of independence hangs over us all.

Birdtrack sent me notifications about birds I'd reported this year, asking me to provide detailed descriptions of birds like Great White Egret and Little Ringed Plover. The former is a regular visitor to Lochwinnoch and the latter has bred successfully there for several years now. #BirdingScotland

Ian Murray has promised Scotland bigger railcards, but separation would risk this. No to divisive nationalism. Brexit means Brexit.

In the UK, we are guaranteed bigger railcards. But in a separate Scotland, we would potentially lose access to memes. The pointlessness of nationalism is plain for all to see.

UK OK.

We have also taken the decision to move the last field trip of 2025 back a week (to avoid the worst of previously mentioned frightful weather 😅) and it will now take place on Saturday 20 December as we visit local haunt RSPB Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve.

Highlight of birding my Lochwinnoch patch today was finding Long-tailed duck on Aird Meadow and stunning views of Otter as it swam in the River Calder directly below me.

More great reception for this repeat-week @swradiogram.bsky.social via WINB at 0330z. I don't think Edward R. Murrow looked that good via over the air TV back then as he does in this photo over shortwave!

From a very chilly coastal Alabama.

Loving watching our wee village of Lochwinnoch featuring in every episode so far!
I was enjoying the new series, Shetland, until Episode 4. it seemed to go a bit 'Take the High Way' 🙄

I really enjoyed working with a brilliant group of teachers in Lochwinnoch Primary School this afternoon. Our 2-hour twilight focused on adaptive teaching, including use of show-me boards, visualisers and spotlight assessment activities. Super discussion from everyone 😊

Honours research project highlight: Investigating whether different wetland habitat types influence bird diversity. A few fieldwork photos, including this majestic cormorant, taken during recent observation surveys at RSPB reserves at Baron's Haugh, Loch Lomond and Lochwinnoch.

Work is underway to create a new cycle hub, seasonal information kiosk and public toilets at Castle Semple in Lochwinnoch.

More than £700,000 will be invested in the popular tourist spot, with the project set to be complete in Spring 2026.
