It's far from the only element, but I found the environmental storytelling in Everybody's Gone to the Rapture to be very load-bearing. And since the world isn't generally interactable, it's purely visual, not forensic (accessed via interaction).

Pre-wash was a big bit for me. Thankfully i only fell for the pods bunkum for about a year. If you want another tip: running the washer with a load of tang or other citrusy powder mixes will clean out your dishwasher very very well if you have calcium or lime deposits.

I have a car, but I really miss being "walking with a heavy load of milk, juice, and canned pop" close to a grocery store, which I always was in my previous apartments. A little bonus exercise and no need to juggle things on the bus or into my bike basket.

yeah i have been meaning to implement internal caching for months (years?) but it's kind of a biggish project and other (non-programming) stuff has been more urgent, but doing so will fix load times two ways:
1) resources will only have to be rendered once per update of the database vs each request
1) resources will only have to be rendered once per update of the database vs each request
