I was promised linear time, but it just turned Monday again and that was yesterday.

“Hello, here is a gotcha from me, a person who doesn’t understand the concept of linear time”

It's important to understand that the average linear rate of increase might not be a good summary of the individual trajectories.

As president I hereby declare last month to be Linear Time Awareness Month

Reading an article about ADHD and... you know I think a lot of the struggle around ADHD seems to be that our shitty capitalistic linear society isn't built to accommodate different ways people interact with TIME.

Linear times continues to baffle top journalistic experts
Oh, *experts* predict this? Uh.... don't more millennial and Gen Z candidates HAVE TO run for office? Were more boomers going to run for office? Next thing you'll tell me more teenagers are going to enter the job market

I am extremely honored and humbled to have been awarded a Test-of-Time award for my 2005 paper "From Linear Story Generation to Branching Story Graphs" with R. Michael Young

Our paper @sarabogels.bsky.social covering our pre-registered multi-year research is now finally out in Cognition. We show that in conversations people reduce their multimodal signals non-linearly; the steeper this non-linear drop-off the more communicative success.

I'm forgiving myself for getting a D+ in Linear Algebra in college
Seconded: it's really hard to fetishise maths after having studied Linear Algebra in any real depth. Like, don't get me wrong, but the mindset you need to cultivate to get good at it is not one that's suited to success in the modern world.
indeed, *actually* knowing a lot of math instead of just pretending that you do seems to insulate many people from Math Fetishization Syndrome

the minority party in congress does not have the power to turn back the linear passage of time
I can say it’s a shame that Dems aren’t making the line the GOP has to cross “re-establish the constitutional democracy that existed pre-2025” without it being a *personal* indictment of Schumer.

Normative vs descriptive distinctions ftw
schumer's audience for this isn't bluesky, it's caucus moderates, state governors, and federal worker unions who might be getting shaky about holding the line, and it worked, at least with the caucus mods, who showed up for this in solidarity.

watch things out of order... free your mind from the shackles of linear progression!!!!!

The annoying side effect of keeping receipts is that it doesn't allow growth. That journey from not knowing to knowing because unfortunately time is linear
I’m so sorry I couldn’t see into the future when before 2019 I, like much of the rest of the world, liked JK Rowling. Next time I will get my crystal ball out and be alert for any future bigotry.

Gosh, if only someone had already covered how to use choices to build subtext is a characterful linear scene already, in a talk that takes less time to read than a medium post from a guy who seems to have only played one game and that’s cos he wrote it

set boundaries, take vitamins, remember nothing lasts forever, eat drink be merry, soup will save me, healing isn't linear

we hate having an adventure don't we folks. it should have been a linear sequence of levels instead

Currently there are more students signed up for linear optimization than both calc 2's combined.

Not sure what this means.

Notably you don’t have to study math yourself to be afflicted with Math Fetishization Syndrome.

I'm eternally grateful for my old friends who have continued to support me and new ones for their kindness. Progression through life isn't linear and it's always hard to deal with the pits after an all-time high, but now I've got the support and energy to finally start climbing again.

So, Amazon MGM is just going to pretend that the 007 films are just one linear continuous story a la the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that every James Bond is the same guy?

That's... moronic. Very moronic.

Just make a damn good movie and reintroduce the character like you do every generation.
