#LibraryWorkers
I've just emailed my MP in support of British Library workers on strike over pay #BritishLibraryOnStrike
As my own union ballots its members in response to a paltry pay offer of 1.4% (whilst inflation is at 4.5%), now is the time to stand together as #libraryworkers for #fairpay for the work we do.
This post has been in draft a while but it feels particularly timely given the strike over pay that starts tomorrow (27th Oct) at the British Library. If you've ever despaired at the low salaries at the BL now is the time to act in solidarity www.pcs.org.uk/news-events/... #BritishLibraryOnStrike
Support the British Library strikers
More than 300 PCS members at the British Library in London are striking over their poverty wages for two weeks from Monday (27) to Sunday, 9 November and need your support in person and online.

A shout out to #libraries and #libraryworkers (it's not just librarians on public service).

My #library card gives me free tutorials on LinkedIn Learning where I learned the basics of #Blender, #3DModeling, and animation.

Libraries matter.

#LibraryWorkers #Labor #BookSky should know:

Audio book performers DO NOT GET ROYALTIES OR RESIDUALS for their performances! Unlike authors or actors, publishing pays them once-and-done -- often VERY little.

Fascinated to hear how Julia Whelan's audiobrary.com is changing this. More in this pod:

I advocated like hell for other people: my bargaining unit (when I had one), my staff when I was a director, my students whenever I worked in a college. But going it without any real support (ahem ALA) takes a huge toll. #librarianship #LibraryWorkers
