I second that. I was in Lerwick in the Simmer Dim this year so I recognised the places Mark was talking about. He did a really good and very funny show, obviously appreciated by the locals. I agree with his pisstaking of the ferry 'pods' - I'll no' travel in one of those again.

Before anybody gets shirty with me, I mean cousins super literally—my matrilineal family is from Bressay and Scalloway, though most of my cousins who I met when I visited years ago live in and around Lerwick these days.

So the first one was earlier on this year. For context, I had a cabin on a ferry from Lerwick to Aberdeen, and whilst we didn't get much of a warning, upon boarding, we got warned that the shipping forecast could be inaccurate.

I've got good sea legs, me. Herself, on the other hand, didn't.

Mark Steel’s Lerwick show is particularly good, as are most of his “In town” shows.
Sadly I couldn’t attend his recent Aberdeen showas we had 4 grandkids on a sleepover!
Yeah... But in fairness Shetland is twinned with Midsomer.

Also, Have a listen to this week's Mark Steel's In Town... From Lerwick, and yes;.that show does get talked about.

Did you hear Mark Steel’s in town yesterday? I loved the section on the actors accents for Shetland. He was in Lerwick.

I've managed to do it the other way round. My speech is very very RP and once I was looking at the menu outside the curry house in Lerwick. A couple of local lads came out, and told me the Madras was really good there. I said "Thank you, I'll have to try it"...

OK. I'm adding both of those to the list of "wild stuff I need to see".
