Unalaskans change subsistence food practices due to WWII contamination
Residents reported changing where they pick berries and plants, and where they hunt birds and fish. Some have stopped harvesting salmon and marine invertebrates entirely.

Fish and Game set the cap at 9.3 million pounds. That’s a low number compared to historic levels. In 1991, crabbers harvested more than 320 million pounds of snow crab.

Cars are not going away soon. ICEs pollute heavily. EVs also pollute, but kucb less. Car enthusiasts buy cars that go fast. Making EVs outperform ICEs is a fantastic way to get enthusiasts (and therefore everyone else) to switch. Most people will not buy EVs that are top speed, but they will switch.

The Tustumena is more than just a ferry: it’s a lifeline for Aleutian communities. A $350 ferry ticket is often the only way people in the Aleutians can afford to travel out of their communities.

I just gave a small donation to KUCB in Alaska (www.kucb.org) because I am so disgusted by the closing of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the defunding of public radio and public television, which listen to and/or watch every day.
