#JFSP
Niche post: a few weeks ago a phrase someone said made my brain go, "I've done it before and I'll do it again. I'VE DONE IT BEFORE AND I'LL DO IT AGAIN!" and I couldn't place where it was from. Anyway, I just put JFSP on and it picked up at the end of the Thomas the Tank Engine sketch. That was it 😂

some bts facts about this sketch:

1. john had not heard of the former england spinner james treadwell, that is just a coincidence
2. RTD has heard it, and at the 2016 bpg awards he asked for a photo with john
3. my wife HATES the ending of this. think it might be her least favourite jfsp sketch

Everytime I see Stevie Martin I'm reminded of the JFSP joke about Margaret Cabourn-Smith never being able to make it in theatre with a name like Maggie Smith.

Kind of wild how relevant this 2013 JFSP sketch still is in 2025.

on radio 4 tonight the 57th episode i've made with @paulsinha.bsky.social goes out (sinha test/sinha games/citizenship test x4/sinha carta/history revision x12/general knowledge x12/perfect pub quiz x26), matching the 57 episodes i've made with @johnfinnemore.bsky.social (jfsp x56 plus the pilot)

I think we've a callback/revision to be done on the next year's Souvenir Programme @edmorrish.bsky.social #JFSP #Belgium (may not actually be the best).

What a handsome fellow! I'm a big fan of JFSP, and always wondered what you looked like!

Have either of you seen Netflix series Long Story Short? Interesting JFSP s9 parallels (multigenerational family story told achronologically, depictions of the pandemic and its impact, made me cry)

You mention John Finnemore below and he knew, when he did a COVID-set JFSP series, that it needed to be narrative and with a different way of telling jokes because of the lack of a live audience. Ironically I actually think his 2024 narrative-driven series suffered FROM its studio audience…

@edmorrish.bsky.social Ed, I don't mean to criticise, but I just found out there was new JFSP by idly thinking "hmm, I wonder if there's any new JFSP" and checking BBC Sounds. I know this sounds unlikely but I think maybe you're not posting enough

Hi- just FYI I learned about you through your very fun Cabin Pressure/JFSP linguistics posts and through that found your internet book, which I successfully used in a work in-service to try to explain to older/younger people why younger/older people email and/or message how they do! So thank you!

I love JFSP so much, I'm always wanting to quote it to people and it's so rare others have heard of it!

Did you know wildfires burn more rangeland than forest? We collaborated with 8 other JFSP exchanges to produce a storymap about rangeland wildfires. Visit our website to explore it: buff.ly/ULxbMA3

Jfsp is brilliant. I used to listen to it on my commute home and then come in and repeat bits of it to my long-suffering wife at length.

this year's jfsp is on the bbc's comedy of the week podcast this week, and i believe that's available to international listeners

Very much enjoyed this year's JFSP. Hoping to get to Mulligan's Transport Museum soon (it's just a load of old trains and buses), it sounds right up my street.

i will say that jfsp has broken this - there are now so many sketches i need a spreadsheet to remember what we’ve actually put out

do point out that this is a tv problem, because jfsp and pov and sound heap and presumably some others not made by me

I once wrote a fic about JFSP with that structure, and it was delightful fun.

Excellent JFSP as always. Luckily the kids were asleep in the car by the time we listened to it, because I had to yell, "Oh fuck OFF, you ridiculous genius," at one point (if you know, you know).
