For #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek: One of my more debilitating symptoms is hyperacusis—a sensitivity to sound & vibration—that causes pain & extreme fatigue. This #embroidery, sensorium (2018), depicts that hypersensitivity. I also wrote a piece of music about this. Listen here: ko-fi.com/s/872acbb154

Many symptoms of lupus are invisible, such as chronic pain, fatigue, migraines and sun sensitivity.

It important to treat people with respect, understand their needs, and avoid making assumptions about what someone is going through as you cannot always see it.

"A disabled person who cannot work, gets less than the LIVING WAGE in out-of-work benefits.
Less than what's assessed to be
required to survive.
Less than anyone in a full-time job will get.
THERE IS NO INCENTIVE."

Just because someone looks “fine” and “okay” doesn’t mean they can’t be fighting a constant battle. Be kind!

"Most disabled people don't claim #DisabilityBenefits.
Many would be eligible, but they choose not to, or are alienated from the process by how horrific it is. People overestimate how many claim, how we are deemed eligible, and how much we get."

Invisible doesn’t mean imaginary. 💙
Psoriatic disease affects more than skin and joints — it can bring pain, fatigue, & emotional challenges too. As we near the end of #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek, let’s remind each other that what’s invisible still matters. A little empathy can make a big difference.

Invisible Disabilities Week is Oct 19–25

Not all disabilities are visible - but they deserve recognition, respect & support
For people with #LongCovid, disbelief has real consequences.

Invisible doesn’t mean imaginary.
