This unimaginable tragedy happened at N Interstate and N Lombard — which remains one of Portland's most inhumane and stressful intersections.
My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.
He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.

why tho? Idk liquor in grocery stores and tallboys on interstate gas stations feel significantly worse issue
Listen I agree pot should be legal but also it is objectively insane that I can buy this at the grocery store next to the lettuce.

The amount of shipping on the Great Lakes until the later part of last century was absolutely massive. This was the interstate highway system of the industrial Midwest, before there were interstates.

Missed the interstate exit, took the GPS-recommended detour — and soon saw a bald eagle sitting in a farm field in central Illinois.
Spotted another pair a few miles further, also just sitting there in the stubbly, recently harvested field

Every state w a blue trifecta should immediately pass a state-level ACA. We did it in MA, it was the model for Obamacare. In my dreams, all the states that formed public health collabs could create ACA-style joint pools, but that will prob inspire a fight over the interstate compact clause.

I’ve been in charge of monitoring hemp-derived cannabinoids for work since like ‘23, but since delta-8 “came out” in 20-21 for most markets, GOP states have been ramping up regs/banning hemp products against the permissive structure of the Farm Bill. But interstate trade is still allowed.
