Today’s lesson: try my first imprimatura. Still using the reference image from the last painting (though I did some B&W shade value tests yesterday too). This was interesting, and it really helps me get an understanding for how reversible the paint can be.

While I think the old saw that ‘no artwork is ever finished, only abandoned’ is overstated, def a skill to know when to stop. In this case, it wasn’t so much that ‘it needs more x/y/z’ as that there was literally a patch of canvas I had forgotten to paint, with the imprimatura/drawing showing

Waarom een gekleurde onderschildering/imprimatura als je er weer overheen schildert? Als je op wit werkt kost het meer dan 1 laag om het mooi dekkend te krijgen. De onderschildering schijnt door en maakt zo een dekkend ogende verflaag.

As da galdi e as já esticadas no geral já vem com base acrilica no tecido, então teoricamente vc só precisa pintar, nao precisa tratar a tela. Eu gosto de passar base acrilica e fazer imprimatura, mas iniciantes não precisam
