There’s still time to register: Join us for a screening of the seminal film The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces, in which “Holly” Whyte summarizes his groundbreaking study of NYC’s street life and plazas in an unpretentious and often hilarious tone https://ow.ly/w8Vj50XcJJt

Umm @kayehm.bsky.social I had seen the work from both Queen St and Dundas St going on in Joel Weeks Park. Taken a look at temporary work over the last 18-24 months.

All the feels started to burst when I took my bike though the construction area.

What would happen if Toronto prioritized reducing car trips?
To strengthen #TransformTO To bolster #VisionZero To ease the financial burden on #TOpoli’s maintenance budget to repair our streets.
What might that look like? Do we have politicians & the #PoliticalWill to make it happen?
since denver launched its e-bike rebate program - the have sold 10,000 e-bikes and reduced an estimated 1,000,000 car trips - replacing millions of VMTs and reducing air pollution

there are no climate silver bullets... but damn - e-bikes and e-cargo bikes are close

Bike Parts Manufacturers’ Association (BPMA) to meet the growing needs for micro-mobility and bikes.

I mean, why not? Cars are clearly not the future. Moving people is. Invest in equitiable ways to allow people the freedom to move safely!
Reminder: For 6 years, during World War II, Canada nationalized CCM (Canadian Cycle & Motor) and it could do it again.
But this initiative, under the watch of bike-lane-hater Flavio Volpe, will probably produce stupidly huge SUVs and pickup trucks.
A lot of the conversation around BIG nation-building projects has been focussed on physical infrastructure (I suppose digital initiatives become physical fast). 2 OTHER national ideas I noticed: 1 @policyalternatives.ca a crown corp for institutional fleets www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

So then constituents in #TorontoDanforth should be able to have infrastructure prioritizing the safety of vulnerable road users installed on Jones Av and the reconfiguration of Carlaw Av and Logan Av approved. It’s lack of political will not the province that is holding it up. Got It!
