Posted by Hytale Team November 18th 2025 [an insert of a cool banner with a river and mountain backdrop and three heroes going into a purple swirly portal] A new and exciting chapter for Hytale begins today. We are thrilled to announce that we have acquired Hytale from Riot Games. While it didn't make sense for them to continue developing it in its existing form, they ultimately wanted what's best for players, and that's for us to eventually play a revised version of the game. We are grateful to Riot Games for making this possible. Over the past few weeks, we have rehired more than 30 developers who know this game inside and out, with additional returns expected in the coming days. Together, we are going back to the original vision for Hytale. We are fully independent and personally committed to funding Hytale for the next 10 years. We could just get the community involved ASAP in modding / bug reports / feature requests / crowdfunding and find ways to use Shared Source and Open Source with cash bounties to speed up production and keep team relatively small. Guys, please, this is important, keep your expectations extremely low because usually when large companies shutdown a project like this the chances of revival are next to impossible. Yes, I made the decision, I will give my best to save Hytale. Even if it’s 1% chance. Its the least I can do to the same community that gave me the opportunity to be where I am today. I will reach out, however remember it will take a while, give it some time. It will take months to get answers and months to get done. I will share as much as possible as I go through the process. If I had to compare Hytale with Minecraft, I would ask for these improvements:
- World Gen & Biomes
- Movement & Combat
- Survival & Building

I really hope Hytale improved on these three aspects, because I really want Hytale to be a successful game! :D
