“Hypernormalisation”, (2016, Adam Curtis)
it’s just undeniable that trump wants everyone to live in a hell where you can’t tell whats real
BREAKING: Trump says he will sign an executive order this week that will limit states’ ability to regulate AI.

To me, pluribus is about “post” covid hypernormalisation in the face of grief we’ve never been able to recover from while the tech industry pushes instant gratification slop on all of us at all times

The Russian concept of "plausible deniability" is laughable. #HyperNormalisation

Adam Curtis' brief postmortem of it in HyperNormalisation (2016) as a failed push to ape the impotent attempts at a Utopian Internet still feels like the most prescient analysis.

I'm borrowing hypernormalisation from Alexei Yurchak regarding the collapse of the Soviet Union. The US economy, institutions, and Federal government have all failed but we're all pretending that they haven't.

It's institutional hypernormalisation. The truth is what they say it is.

They are impartial because they say they are. Controlling the microphone is all that matters.

Hypernormalisation: my new favourite concept. Oh, also, that Adam Curtis documentary is brilliant

Systems are crumbling – but daily life continues. The dissonance is real
If everything feels broken but strangely normal, the Soviet-era concept of hypernormalization can help

HyperNormalisation is a 2016 BBC documentary by British filmmaker Adam Curtis. It argues that governments, financiers, & technological utopians have, since the 1970s, given up on trying to model the complex "real world" & instead established a simplified "fake world" for the benefit of corporations

The UK is in a mess, I tend to believe that the Tories, Nigel Farage and the GB News lot, The Sun and Daily Mail etc are high under the influence of Hypernormalisation. #Hypernormalisation.

Watch Adam Curtiss’s Hypernormalisation. Distract & confuse…
I don’t buy the idea that the Gaza comments are designed to distract us from the coup. Because not long ago the same people said that the coup comments were designed to distract us from something else. He is chaotic *and* corrupt. There is no pattern or plan. Nothing is impossible.

I’m wondering if the American scenes of drug dealers getting busted in Midweek ended up forming part of Adam Curtis’s footage in the opening chapter of HyperNormalisation (“What’s your date of birth, Larry?”/The woman dying on the steps etc.)

We're heading towards a future that fits Alexei Yurchak's definition of hypernormalisation, where we know the reality presented to us is bullshit but we won't have means to imagine the truth or any alternative

i saw a screening of Hypernormalisation with Curtis talking afterwards in like 2019

i asked him what he saw that made him optimistic and he just laughed and basically said nothing, he’s only getting more cynical 5 years after making that movie

Tout le segment sur la Syrie dans HyperNormalisation serait à revoir aujourd'hui.

I finally found an anthropological view for the 💩 that bothers me and when talking about it it's always turns into some economy ideology bs. Full document available online 👀📽

"Em seu documentário de 2016, HyperNormalisation, o cineasta britânico Adam Curtis argumentou que a crítica de Yurchak à vida no final da era soviética se aplica perfeitamente à queda do Ocidente, que já dura décadas, rumo ao autoritarismo, algo que mais estadunidenses estão enfrentando de frente"

At the risk of the cliche reference, Adam Curtis talked about this in HYPERNORMALISATION. The military fueled this conspiracy stuff to protect secrets.
This is a wild story that will shut absolutely no one up. However, it’s also not so much a revelation as a confirmation of what LOTS of smart writers (esp aviation experts) have been saying forever. www.wsj.com/politics/nat...

I would say US is not inherently evil but the way it is constructed from economics field of view. It really handicaps lower income folk to thrive. And in my opinion this is contributing factor to hypernormalisation that is felt in almost every aspect of US life

There must be a word to describe this - she knows, we know, Jews know musk did multiple Nazi salutes, so what is the intention behind this? More hypernormalisation to make us feel insane? I need someone brainier to analyse it
