Thanks for reading books. It warms my heart - because, clearly, Republicans don't. They think feeding the poor and sheltering the homeless is communism. No - Refusing to is capitalism. Communism is when the state tells the markets what to do and buys it up for itself to control.

Newsome is just another Nazi apologist. Don't let the fact that he has good social media game fool you into ignoring the fact that he is a pretty despicable politician who revelled in destroying homeless camps.

About 12% of the population is veterans, about 20% of the homeless population consists of veterans. America, we have some work to do.

What did America get for all that tariff money? Pay down debt? Disburse as emergency funds for disasters? Feed/house homeless? Take care of veterans health care? Fucking what? It’s now just “gone”?

Doesn't surprise me one bit. I live in a small maga town. Our "christian" churches had to be shamed into having a warming shelter during severe cold events. Only one would do it. Even the preacher that ministers to the homeless makes them sit through a sermon before they are fed on Sundays.

Guess what? One half of veterans are homeless so it's not a happy day at all.

The other half is not getting paid and are lining up on pantries.

#Vets To you all, thank you for your service! May your deeds not be overlooked.

Good morning. I’m still $260 short to cover the rest of my rent to avoid being homeless. I appreciate everyone who shared and donated yesterday!

“I have been on two humanitarian-esque missions with the guard …doing the things you see on the commercial helping these communities. … then you want me to go pick up trash and dissuade homeless people in DC at gunpoint. Like, no dude.

These churches all have well manicured lawns and trees and maintained parking lots and everything is pristine and clean while people are homeless and starving outside and they won’t even allow them to park in the lot to sleep in their cars

Ive been homeless twice. Neither time was for a long period of time, but for like 6 months each. I did sleep in a park a couple of times but was grateful enough to be able to live out of my car and sleep on different couches every night. Ive also spent years without healthcare of any kind.

"Good news, bad news" situation. It's actually good the Home Office won this one. Alternative was a raft of councils closing hotels with no suitable alternatives, meaning people were either made homeless or put in camps. Bad news, still no suitable alternatives. 1/

Last night on my walk I came across a homeless dude who asked for change but I dont carry cash so I asked him what he needed. He said half jokingly “a hot meal and a hat“ so went home, packed my dinner and a knit hat and brought it to him. He held my hand and prayed for me. His hands were so cold.🥺

Great analysis. (Clearly we need to update the old line that a 1980s US conservative is a '70s liberal who's been mugged. A new Texan extractivist-theocrat is an IT bro who's tripped over a homeless addict in California.)

I ain't got no ideas yet, but if you stay on the social justice beat, I can tell what is realistic and what isn't from the frontline in London. I have recent experience working with homeless people, refugees, victims of domestic abuse, bit of gangs/offenders, people with mental health issues, etc.

In Wisconsin: two veterans housing centers closed this year, leaving the most vulnerable—homeless vets—without support even as lawmakers claim “progress.”
Service left the battlefield and now fights bureaucracy.

That she is! She even wears mismatched wooly legwarmers if she can't find a pair, different sizes, patterns, colours etc.

God help me if I ever have to give a description of what she was wearing to the police. "If Elsbeth from the TV show was homeless?"

Domestic violence is one of the leading causes for the roughly 1.2 million women who end up homeless in the United States each year. Please consider donating to your local shelter or food pantry, and call our 24/7 hotline (800-899-4000) if you’re a survivor who needs help.

And yet there are people starving, homeless, in need of medical care… where will the $$ go when the greedy selfish die? Where did their compassion for others go?
