#Heraclitus
Heraclitus explains what it is, and Parmenides explains exactly what it is. Plato and Aristotle have heard about it and dream up nonsensical explanations. I don't remember them all, but for example Plato dreams up that deduction is recalling things from past lives.

What is the problem with Heraclitus in these times?

It is the thunderbolt that steers the course of all things.

Man, who is an organic continuation of the Logos, thinks he can sever that continuity and exist apart from it.

We are, but most go with the flow
Greek philosopher Heraclitus, describing a battlefield dynamic: out of 100 men, 10 shouldn't be there, 80 are targets, 9 are real fighters, but the one, the warrior, is the truly exceptional individual who can rally the others and define the outcome. Only need 10⚔️

If into Heraclitus means a philosophy of becoming instead of being, as far as I know that's every 18th to 21st-century Western philosopher. Some of them say becoming is being and other stuff like that, but it's all foundationless philosophy of becoming.

heraclitus would have been a hell of a poster (probably pejorative)

some guys can barely find the Heraclitus (sorry sorry I'm not smart enough to make a smart joke)
January 5, 2026 at 5:00 PM
are there still guys who are really into heraclitus?

Poor Heraclitus was nowhere near as shallow as Plato makes him. He knows what reason is, and he knows all things are one.

1. Deep in the Heraclitus rabbit hole
2. Reading some little zen meditation books my daughter gave me for Xmas.
3. Because of 1 & 2, about to re-read Chuang Tzu.

Something is happening.
I found a book of Heraclitus fragments with commentary by Philip Wheelwright in one of those “little free libraries.” I finished it and I am now re-reading Heidegger’s discussions of Heraclitus in the Intro to Metaphysics. Next I will re-read Heidegger’s Early Greek Thinking. Rabbit hole entered.

One time my sister took a pottery class in community college and made me a mug with a Heraclitus quote and she glazed it brown and it looked like a turd, shaped into a mug, and that’s my story.

"Δὶς ἐς τὸν αὐτὸν ποταμὸν οὐκ ἂν ἐμβαίης."
"You cannot step into the same river twice."
/ Heraclitus quoted by Plato in 𝐏𝐥. 𝑪𝒓𝒂. 𝟒𝟎𝟐𝐚 /

Possible interpretation: the Cosmos that is in constant flux is never in the same state twice.

Flowing water also great (Heraclitus: "No man ever steps in the same river twice")!
