I wish there were more long distance ferry routes on the east coast of North America. It'd be cool to visit Halifax or St John's by boat, but the only ways to do that from Boston would either be an ultra-expensive private charter, or a cruise that only has you in port for like 8 hours.

OMG! I’ve just started what promises to be a splodey boats reading jag (Halifax explosion, sinking of the Sultana). Adding this to my list and expanding interest to potential splodey boats. Thank you!

It’s practice & theory…

Do not believe them.
Do not get used to this.
Keep your focus.
Stand your ground.

I remember for every man & woman.
For Papa, tail gunner on a Lancaster bomber. For Grandpa, ground crew for a Spitfire division. For Uncle Keith, shot down and killed over Germany in 1944. For Dylan, currently based in Halifax.
May their service and sacrifices never be forgotten. #RemembranceDay

Congratulations Joan - Rob Brezsny quotes you today:
Joan Halifax, Zen Buddhist... describes what she calls “engaged Buddhism”—a practice that asks the essential question: “How do we actualize the spirit of the bodhisattva, the compassionate dimension in our lives, in a direct, practical way?”

There’s a new Mexican food joint in Ottawa that looks legit. I am inordinately excited about this because I had two (2) misadventures in Halifax.
1) The cochinita pibil at one place was dry and flavourless
2) The fish taco at another had toppings on the bottom (!!) & the fish didn’t fit the shell
