A Greek-tragedy-esque end for NC’s infamous gerrymandering.

Analysts are now saying ther gerrymandering could hurt them because to gerrymander, you have to cut your stronghold into weak areas to delete the weak areas, but the strongholds are so cut up now that it's too diluted.

Trump's Republican co-conspirators have made life difficult. I don't think gerrymandering is going to save them.

Trump Admin fired DOJ Civil Rights Attorney Michael Gates earlier this month

Will AAG Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon be next?

Looks like Dhillon & Gates
spearheaded the DOJ's case that KILLED the Trump-Abbott TEXAS GERRYMANDERING scheme? WTAF?!

Partisan gerrymandering is legal, according to the Roberts Supreme Court.

I think you don’t understand gerrymandering.
November 19, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Surely gerrymandering an extra seat in Florida will fix this
November 19, 2025 at 2:30 PM
IF this ends up being close to this margin, the Senate goes D and they pick up 40-45 House seats even with gerrymandering nonsense.

It either tips the scales for them or gets gerrymandering outlawed full scale

Green means go
I don’t care what happens with the Texas legislative maps. Democrats should still gerrymander the shit out of blue states.
November 19, 2025 at 2:24 PM
The "Texas" specification in the California bill was a poor choice. It should have made better reference to all the MAGA gerrymandering efforts throughout the nation.

How delicious is it that the federal judge killing the Texas gerrymandering effort is a Trump-appoint judge? 😎
A Trump-appointed judge just blocked Trump’s Texas gerrymander
Trump could lose the redistricting war he started.

Not really true, gerrymandering always spreads strong partisan support thinner over more districts, (say a solid 60/40 red district chopped up to make two blueish 48/52 districts redish) if there is a very big wave year it likely will lead to *more* seats flipping, not less.
November 19, 2025 at 2:19 PM
This. The only hope (even if a small hope) to end gerrymandering, modernize voting, and reverse citizens united is for Democrats to gain a supermajority at all levels of government. The danger in that scenario is the Dems will get drunk with power and not want to give it up. At least some of them.

Trump never cared about increasing the Rs in Con.. As long as Rs were in charge, he'd bully them around/get them to go along, & they did. But now they see that there's life after Trump, that he's weak, and his gerrymandering was only for him, not for them. Now they hope the margins aren't too tight.

Gerrymandering, corruption, voter suppression, and stupidity.
November 19, 2025 at 2:17 PM
Not really. Gerrymandering makes seats cluster around certain margin thresholds in a way that follows the Ketchup adage: Shake and shake the ketchup bottle, none'll come and then a lot'll

“Texas’ bid to please Trump ran aground, wrote [Trump appointee] US District Judge Jeffrey Brown in a 160-pg opinion, bc lawmakers improperly divided voters btwn districts based on their race. That practice, known as racial gerrymandering, violates the 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution.”
“… by triggering a response in blue states—most notably California—Republicans could see their nationwide push for mid-decade redistricting backfire on them in the 2026 midterms, since Democrats may come out ahead in the gerrymandering arms race that the GOP instigated at Donald Trump’s urging.”

In Texas, “the all-time worst gerrymander in the modern era of voting rights” is toast.
An “improper instruction from the Trump Department of Justice to use race led a Trump-appointed judge to strike down a plan demanded by Trump himself”

86 racial gerrymandering.

Yeah the only ways to ending gerrymandering are a compromise abolition due to both parties doing it heavily, or the Dems taking a trifecta and abolishing it themselves. Dems not gerrymandering blue states makes both impossible
November 19, 2025 at 2:13 PM
Ironically, this is also the fastest way to outlaw gerrymandering everywhere, which would also make Democrats happy.
November 19, 2025 at 2:10 PM
Or, they are incompetent boobs. Flagrantly citing racism as the reason for gerrymandering Texas, because they are stupid, while Dems did it the non-stupid way.

We'll see if the SCOTUS overturns the Texas decision. Probably. "Racism is totally fine, since it no longer exists"
