Remember in 2012, when that weird dude had thay GeoCities quality website "Unskewed Polls"? Where they looked at polls and just said "actually, Mitt is truly ahead of Obama by 12, not down by 5, if you look at the fact that blah blah blah"

Was just thinking about this when a coworker was talking about seeing something on Linkdn or posting something on Linkdn and I wondered if I stumbled into the past. I checked out my detached account (see who visited your page!) and it's like MySpace+Geocities. Who the absolute fuck is using that?

A friend of mine has made her own geocities website recently bc she got so fedup with all these backstabby online galleries and also how socmed functions in general

I get her.
Only so much I can take before packing up and retreating into more controlled and private spaces myself.

Ignorance of the alt tag which I was using in the late 90s on geocities*.

Ignorance of the scale of training data required.

Ignorance of the underpaid human labourers who are writing text for images.

And most importantly, a deep rooted commitment to ablism.

*a place for individual websites

Some of y'all never built a personal website using the geocities browser GUI using dial-up in 2003 and it really shows.

No I will not elaborate.

WITH A WORKING LINK THIS TIME 😭

twin signal ova: a purely vibes-based purchase that lead to years of hunting down information on geocities fansites because only 3 volumes of the manga were ever officially translated

This is how I first learned how to do HTML lol! we did it in my computer class, then we uploaded it to the host site like geocities or something.

I was so obsessed with making my pages after that! Sadly I never became an advanced learner, but it was still fun!

I came to bed and Mr. Bree has SG1 playing on the ceiling projector and good golly, check out that early 2000s web design. 😂

This is from Geocities, so the place of origin is likely no longer around. Good thing I preserved it. ❤️ #FinalFight #CAPCOM

It doesn't mean "haha tech bad". But as of recently, I made an observation. People are choosing to abandon Web3 by choice, while corporate is betting it all on a losing horse.

Pillowfort by extension for example, is not tumblr, but something older that allowed true freedom of expression: Geocities.
