I'd be all for it if the replacement is some mix federal property taxes on land (not on the value created by buildings, just the land itself based on its location) and capital gains taxes and taxes on use of not-American-citizens (including AI) to do jobs that American citizens could do.

The chief horror is the rewriting of the human rights gains we've made since WWII to frame only 'contributing' migrants (whether asylum seekers or not) as worthy of life & safety.
