Always a pleasure to come across an #EcoEngineering info board! Nice work #Ecostructure team 🙌. Looks like your panels are functioning similarly to #LivingSeawalls in Plymouth - fucoid city! 🤎 @anaellelemasson.bsky.social @livingseawalls.bsky.social @jebyrnes.bsky.social @pippajmoore.bsky.social

Well done to Franz Bauer for collecting the 2 year dataset on the biodiversity colonising the Living Seawalls in Plymouth. Fucoid algae continues to dominate. 🤎 Many new species moving in..🦀🐌🪸

Feeling Fucoid on this fine #phycologyFriday

Throwback to this amazing low tide series in summer 2022 on the ancestral lands of the Makah near the western entrance of the Strait of Juan de Fuca / Salish Sea

How many different phyla can you count?

Just made the transition from Twitter (finally!). I’ll be posting updates on the progress of our various #seaweed #aquaculture projects here from now on. For now here’s an awesome community of epibionts I found living on our local fucoid #macroalgae from Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland

A very interesting story. I think it’s too bad that the article didn’t include the genus (Durvillaea) anywhere nor a clarification that it is not a kelp, but a fucoid. I’m not surprised many of the comments here think it’s about Nereocystis.

Chain bladder kelp* (Stephanocystis osmundacea) is our seaweed of the week!
*Despite its common name, it’s not a kelp but a fucoid… #PhycologyFriday
