These are a batch of #Trout we are rearing in the @MarineInst hatchery in Furnace which will be the hosts for the captive bred #FreshwaterPearlMussels this summer 🤞🏼 🤞🏼🐟🐟🐟🐟

Today, we are moving our 2020 captive bred cohort of #FreshwaterPearlMussels to their new home, small boxes of sand which are better suited to their filter feeding stage. They are now about 3 mm long and pretty sturdy

Yesterday, we got a new batch of 30 adult #FreshwaterPearlMussels from the Newport River for our captive breeding program at the @MarineInst Newport. Between 2022 and 2024, we will be refining our protocols and comparing mussel and salmonid cohorts @EvelynMoorkens @npwsBioData

Today is a good day 🧚🏽‍♀️ So exciting to find 1/3 of our first @MarineInst cohort of #Salmon are hosting #FreshwaterPearlMussels. They will drop off the 🐟🐟in the next month and hopefully we can keep them going 🙂 Long road yet.....@npwsBioData @Notice_Nature @ElizabethRyder7
