Just what have pensioners done that is so bad the current government feel they have to punish us both collectively and now individually?

Poor Gaie Delap, who everyone seems to agree shouldn't be in prison, has had her sentence extended by 20 days due to a series of failures by Justice Minister Shabana Mahmood.

Meanwhile serious criminals are getting early release... goodlaw.social/e5jl
Failure of the state adds 20 days to Gaie Delap's sentence | Good Law Project
Government failures which recalled the 78-year-old to prison have now been turned into justification for an extension to her sentence. We’re joining Gaie’s family and a groundswell of legal and prison...

Absolutely appalling and completely mad. On top of the initial disgusting sentences. #FreeGaieDelap
Re-jailing a 77 year old climate protestor because her wrists are too slender to wear an electronic tag is fatuous. Welcome to a parable about how the people who claim to crave law and order have lost the plot. www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/68...

Outrageous. Gaie Delap, a
77 year-old climate activist, was sent back to prison on Friday just because a curfew wrist tag didn’t fit. She is in poor health and should be at home. @kierstarmer.bsky.social please #freegaiedelap in time for Christmas. @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social
UK climate activist and Quaker, Gaie Delap, 77, was jailed for civil disobedience, released on house arrest, and then re-incarcerated bc the monitor was too big for her wrist. This is criminalization of climate activism + misogyny. @thirdactorg.sky.social

A failure of justice, and draconian Tory law, put Gaie Delap in prison. A failure of government is keeping her there, writes Guardian columnist Zoe Williams

For heaven's sake just release the poor woman, after all Starmer's government released hundreds of prisoners guilty of more egregious crimes than attempting to save our planet!

She's 77, FFS! Did the judge & the Home Office consider her an outstanding flight risk?!

Just Stop Oil protestor Gaie Delap, 77 has been sent to prison for Christmas

Because the companies Capita, G4S, Airbus, Telefonica and Buddi who run the UK electronic tagging system are too incompetent to make a tag small enough for her.

She needs to be released immediately.
