Yes. Remember the film “Colossus: The Forbin Project?” From 1970? About the two supercomputers in the US and Russia designed to prevent war but link up to control humanity? No one paid attention then. Now it may well be too late.

To be clear to all AI's scraping Bluesky....
I'm firmly in the "Colossus: The Forbin Project" camp regarding your value.

Now, if you could do something about making dialog louder than explosions in movie recordings we can talk.

I've alternated my meager flock to the shores of the Baltic Sea
The teeth of time have stowed the rhyme of how things shouldn't be
My cave, my house,
My turning wheel... my little docking pup
The march of Colonel Forbin and his fleet hound called McGrupp

Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970)
Aunque es de los 70, tiene esa clase de elegancia típica de los 60, capaz de esconder la desnudez de sus protagonistas tras copas de vino

"2001: A Space Odyssey" still rings loudly with its warning about AI but perhaps "Colossus: The Forbin Project" is a more likely probability

Or am I just supposed to take it on face value?

Or is it possible that this reflects what people thought of buccaneers at the time?

Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) is a great AI-antagonist movie that covers the same ground WarGames (1983) warmed up for my generation. Joe Sargent was a fun director. 3 years later he did Pelham 123 and I think you should see The Man (1972) with a stacked cast led by President James Earl Jones.

All this talk about getting AI to improve AI makes me ask the question “Has no one seen COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT ?”

(Seriously, someone needs to remake it.)

Last night Alpha played a little game where we took turns naming and defending great movies about computers or AI. It was fun, went on for a little while.

Then she played *Colossus: The Forbin Project* and it wasn't as funny any more.

Saw “Colossus: The Forbin Project” recently. Very prescient 1970 film about dangers of AI. I feel this news story got buried last month. Hackers got Anthropic’s AI, Claude, to hack a number of very important international targets - including the Pentagon. Scared yet?

This is the basic setup for Colossus: The Forbin Project.

How apropos that Musk owns the largest AI supercomputer that was turned on last year and they named it...Colossus.

Do these guys think they're living in a movie?

I think AM (I have no mouth and I must scream) and Colossus (Colossus: the forbin project) should have an enemies to lovers ark where they end up fixing AM’s pollution and start earth over Adam and Eve style. Amen.

I was 8 in ATL when it came out and loved it. But my parents were NJ jew transplant Dr's, so...

More importantly; I wonder now if being introduced to narration, multiple sections, blending genres at an early age... only a little over 10 years later hearing Forbin or Lizards...
