An elephant mosquito larva in the genus Toxorhynchites. It is long and facing to the right. Its body is maroon with an amber head. The tip of the abdomen has a siphon touching the water surface. This is all on a white background. The larva of an awl fly in the family Xylophagidae. It is cream colored except its head, pointing left, which is thin, conical, dark brown. There are some reddish brown plates on the top of the body, and the tip of the abdomen, facing right, has a plate with two small protuberances. The larva of a predatory fungus gnat in the family Keroplatidae. It is worm-like and resting on a bed of slime on the underside of a polypore fungus. It has a pale body with some dark cross stripes. The larva of a predatory punkie midge in the family Ceratopogonidae, genus Forcipomyia. It is cream colored and caterpillar like with a dark horse-like head. It has setae on the top of the body that are each tipped with a milky droplet of noxious fluid. It is resting in the cracks of a rotten palm tree.
