Today in #FinancialHistory: The FDIC went into effect on January 1, 1934, with a $2,500 limit per depositor. Created by the Banking Act of 1933 and signed into law by FDR, the FDIC sought to restore consumer confidence in banks after millions were lost in the Great Depression. 💰
