Our new faculty member Alex Bevington recently spent a beautiful autumn day doing fieldwork maintaining the hydrometric stations at Hungary Creek & Crooked River.

Awesome start to this new position in our dynamic department!

Happy #FieldworkFriday! As we trudge through fall and approach winter the field team finds themselves fighting against the sunset. Add in the 1hr loss of light from Daylight Savings Time last weekend and we know we’re not the only folks working in the twilight hours.

DYK the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network is managed jointly by UO, UW, and USGS? Together we operate 700+ seismic monitoring stations! #FieldWorkFriday

Field technicians from OHAZ and UW recently teamed up to upgrade VLM, a @pnsn1.bsky.social site NW of Mt. Hood. Team work makes the dream work! 🦆🐾

Happy #fieldworkfriday and Happy Halloween! Still picking out a costume? Check out some suggestions modeled by our talented PNSN field staff. Maybe a soggy construction worker? A peak-obsessed helicopter pilot? A granola backcountry hiker?

The hardest part of marine nematode work is that the community composition and species abundance is SO unpredictable. Our last sampling, we had 1000s of the specific predatory species we need. This time we have found <20 worms from the same site! #FieldworkFriday

C-CoMP focuses on microbes & chemicals, so it is easy for us to forget how vast our ocean is 🌊. Being at sea 🚢 is the loveliest reminder - there’s nothing as wondrous or humbling as floating in endless cerulean blue while receiving rare visits from animals🐦!

Happy #FieldworkFriday! Last week was packed! But despite a full week of monitoring @Mariners.com games to the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill, our field team still headed out. These cows at PASS didn't know a thing about the Mariners or ShakeOut, but were glad we came for a visit.

We just added two new wildfire cameras in the Columbia River Gorge! #FieldworkFriday

The Stacker and Juniper cameras are in WA so they can spot fires on both sides of the river. Thanks Klickitat PUD for hosting them!

Live feeds will be available soon on ALERTWest.live and the @watchduty.org app.

Happy #FieldworkFriday, and today I'm posting zebras for Jo other reason than that zebras are cool 😎

My only question: why isn't everything zebra striped?! It's thermoregulatory, it's camouflage, it's protection from biting flies... Why can't I be stripy?!
