Not quite out: by my calculation, the deposit threshold for Stanley was 150 and four candidates including one incumbent lost their deposits:
Pete Biggs, Grant Budd, Chris Clarke and Clovis Kilmartin
Full Stanley #result for #FalklandsElection25, with due credit again to Falklands Radio:

Four hours from close of poll to the end of count and the hall empties 45 minutes before last orders!
Falklands Radio closed down at 10.20pm after Ali promised that I’ll be on air to reopen the station in just over eight and a half hours time!
#FalklandsElection25 is over and this #liveskeet is out!

#FalklandsElection25 #hottake
Not a 2009-style clean sweep, but it might as well as have been
In so far as left right politics apply in the #Falklands, it’s definitely a quite a shift to the right
I think a fair summary is that the new Assembly will be “business friendly” and fiscally conservative

STANLEY RESULT #FalklandsElection25 #result
Lewis Clifton and Cheryl Roberts top the poll
Stacy Bragger, Dean Dent and Roger Spink make up the rest of the 5

Pete Biggs loses both his seat and his deposit
Mark Pollard, Gavin Short and Leona Vidal lose their seats

Falklands Radio is taking a musical break from live coverage of the #FalklandsElection25 count and this #liveskeet will take a break too ..
December 12, 2025 at 12:55 AM
The counters’ work seems to be done and the live coverage on Falklands Radio is taking a break with Darius Rucker’s version of Wagon Wheel!

The Stanley result in #FalklandsElection25 is just a few minutes away

Then I can work out what musical puns I am going to make on the breakfast show tomorrow

The hall suddenly went quiet at the #FalklandsElection25 count, but we are that no announcement seems imminent so the candidate interview and box pops continue

(Dead Ringers once joked that BBC election coverage consisted of seven hours of nothing followed by an hour of something!)

The Governor has just been interviewed on air and said he was “fascinated” by the level of engagement and pleased by the high turnout at #FalklandsElection25
December 11, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Falklands Radio is now back live on air from the #FalklandsElection25 count at the Town Hall and the Camp candidates are being called forward
First result due soon ..

For “photos”, substitute “candidates” and this is roughly how I picked my 5 votes for #FalklandsElection25
Internal monologue during the annual photo-sift.

1. I take too many photos.
2. I don't like any of them.
3. Maybe these ones are OK.
4. I have picked too many photos.
5. I don't like any of them.
6. Oh, I quite like that one.
7. No I don't.

Etc.

Good news! The OB gremlins seem to have been tamed
Falklands Radio News Editor Traighana Smith sums up for now and hands back to the studio for a music break

4 years ago I was live tweeting the Falklands general election count for FITV
Tonight, I’m at home tuned into the Falklands Radio coverage and I’ll live skeet that in my own name

The count is usually a social event as much as a political one, but (because reasons) I am at home listening to the coverage on Falklands Radio
They are currently playing Wind Of Change, which was requested - I don’t know it was a hope or a prediction!

What the international observers are going to make of it all, I don’t know
I suspect there will be things they will accept as quaint or even well adapted to local circumstances, but also things they will think should have been differently …

One aspect of voting in a small community is that the polling staff know the voters but still carry out the formalities
Clerk 1: “Hello, Ronnie! Can I have your name, please?”
Clerk 2: “Are you the person registered as Ronald MacLennan Baird at [address]?”

#FalklandsElection25
I went along about 11.20 to vote and it took me about 25 minutes with about 20 people in front of me in the queue - I went before the people who went before lunch
The FITV reporter said that polling had been “swift”
(I always thought that the cliché used to be “brisk”)

#FalklandsElection25 is today
I *had* to play this track on the Breakfast Show this morning

One might think that the timing of both the decision and the announcement raise issues
#FalklandsElection25
December 10, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Telecommunications was a big issue in 2021 and is still an issue in #FalklandsElection25, but in a different way
The recent changes to the telecoms monopoly (Starlink can now be used in the Falklands legally) have changed the agenda, but what happens to mobile and landline from 2028 is still unclear
December 9, 2025 at 9:51 PM
However, some of the biggest issues that came up during #FalklandsElection25 in manifestos, speeches, interviews and hustings were:
Immigration
The state of public finances
The size of the public sector
Public sector pay
Salmon farming

Sovereignty and constitutional reform were non-issues
December 9, 2025 at 9:44 PM
A lot of my #FalklandsElection25 posts have been about process rather than policy - although, to be honest, 19 independents chasing 8 seats in two constituencies* means that personality counts more than policy

* More manageable than Guernsey’s 82 candidates chasing 38 seats in one constituency!

#FalklandsElection25
More emergency arrangements being made to deal with a very Falklands problem
A visiting cruise ship has changed its schedule and *a lot* of people will now be working all day on polling day at short notice
An hour’s worth of mobile voting will now be taking place the day before
