I feel like oil factors in here somehow

I’m not saying that going online is great, because it fucking wasn’t. But I think we might be able to identify other factors… Like living through a global mass death event.

FOX NEWS: Do you believe that the number of people who came into the country illegally is one of the major factors that drove up housing prices?

FED GOV STEPHAN MIRAN: I absolutely believe that's the case

one of the underlying factors in all the Epstein stuff is that his correspondents - even the ones who likely did not participate in abuse themselves - are completely incapable of imagining his victims as people. he is real to them, the girls aren't.
I sometimes feel like they don’t want to end poverty or reduce inequality because they believe they’re entitled to a class of people they can prey upon

Voting patterns across the USA now look mostly similar - denser areas vote more Democratic, less dense or rural areas vote more Republican. Whether you are in a red state or blue state is mostly a function of how urban your state is (and some other factors like how white it is)

"it's good, actually, when a particular metric makes no effort to eliminate confounding factors that aren't actually what it purports to measure"

tibet is really interesting because, historically, it was incredibly isolated, extremely poor, and technologically inferior, but neither entirely administratively incompetent nor poorly educated. just a constellation of factors you would never see in modernity.
Tibetan history is fascinating in general but 20th century Tibetan history, especially the period between Qing collapse and the PRC invasion, is a particularly messy mixture of modernity, tradition, cynicism, and genuine belief.
this is a really fascinating document, for two reasons:

(a) Francis Younghusband is just a huge dick. a really incomparable asshole, and it comes through in everything he writes.

(b) at no point in the negotiations does Tibet have any idea what is going on.

those factors do not exist in SC/AL/MS/AR. Indeed the blueing of NC and GA is at the *expense* of several of those states.

There's plenty of non-supply and demand factors in economics.

Which of them, if introduced to a hypothetical housing market, suggests that they YIM Y approach is flawed?

incredibly elaborate part of game coding weighting endless stats and factors to calculate exactly when to hit your character with a "tummyache!" status out of nowhere

Several factors can flow into this: age, gender, class, personal familiarity — but ultimately it’s about power. Do you need to worry about making a good impression on this person or not

ICE only performs unlawful arrests.

"Penalties for unlawful arrest can include criminal charges against the arresting officer ... & civil penalties like monetary damages for the victim. Specific penalties ... can escalate depending on factors like the use of force or the infliction of injury. "

The Home Office's internal research shows that "many asylum seekers have little to no understanding of current asylum policies & economic conditions" making these marginal factors, not decisive factors

The Labour government has released to the media more details of its asylum reforms - to be released on Monday.

Their premise: UK attracts asylum seekers because it is too generous + reducing pull factors will change that.

There is a lot of overspinning from this govt

The limiting factors on shit like that are bandwidth and just how much you want to avoid being caught as an obvious malicious actor on someone's network. Making huge numbers of spurious requests is itself a massive red flag for the defence team that should flag alerts.

This is one of these things where… look, that’s true, and it’s also true that voting rights matters, and in fact, when an election is sufficiently close, it is sometimes reasonable to say both factors were simultaneously decisive.

Overall prices are up.
"Egg prices are falling due to a combination of factors, primarily the abatement of the avian flu outbreak, so higher supply, and lower consumer demand after the winter holiday season Other contributing factors include lower feed costs for producers and increased egg imports"

In a nutshell 👏 second homes, vacant property, Air BnB... Greed, greed and more greed... But it's much easier to blame "other" factors...

it is a victory of Hitlerite thought that people are attempting to use Hitler’s own logic to explain the man himself, looking at his genes rather than from the socio-political factors that allowed him to rise
Exclusive: Adolf Hitler’s DNA has been sequenced by scientists

It has:
- shown he had a disorder which impacted his sexual development
- debunked rumours about his ancestry
- shown a high likelihood that he had a neurodivergent condition and/or bipolar disorder

Okay, I did manage to get this blog post out before the (4pm PT!) livestream! 👀 There will be a considerable flood threat this weekend in some parts of SoCal as near-record moist airmass combines with other factors. Strong t-storms also possible. #CAwx
