Today is World Book Day! What is your favorite Star Wars book?

Mine is "Splinter of the Mind's Eye", which I found really fascinating as a kid, as I was clamouring for more Star Wars' stories after seeing the original film in cinema.

After yet another year of waiting, The Last Command completed the Thrawn trilogy, and it was worth the wait. It neatly wraps up the threads left by the two previous books with a satisfying showdown.

After the Thrawn trilogy concluded books started coming out a little faster, and the first one was Kathy Tyers' The Truce at Bakura released in November 1993. Being first in both publication and chronological order it avoids the question of what to read next.

These stories inspire me...and I am so glad that the #ExtendedUniverse exists, and that though they are no longer Canon, they live on in the legends that they inspire.

Dave Wolverton's The Courtship of Princess Leia was released in April 1994, in the middle of the Jedi Academy trilogy which I'll read in order next. It takes place about 4 years after Endor and Bakura and a year before Thrawn.

There was a whole year of waiting before we got Dark Force Rising, the second part of Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy. The novel itself is weaker than I remember it, being a classic middle-part-bridge in the trilogy.
