Chapter 3 of this?
Liberman, K. (2013). More Studies in Ethnomethodology. SUNY Press.
I haven't, but the Boise State library let me get a PDF, and it's on my list now.
I'm sure "nobody ever reads all the rules & everyone gets things wrong" applies far outside games, too. Thanks!

BTW, I'm intrigued by the deep conceptual connections between this way of thinking and Ethnomethodology/Conversation Analysis (#EMCA) — particularly the avoidance of goal/intention talk and the key role of a self-organising system of resources for joint interaction #xpSocCog

We invite abstracts for presentations or data sessions at the CASW Conference. We welcome contributions that address topics in any area of social work that use conversation analysis or closely related approaches – discursive psychology, membership categorization analysis, and ethnomethodology.

I'm pretty sure God always wanted me to get into ethnomethodology. To be a teen into occultism, being constantly recommended Carlos Castaneda, only to later find out that Castaneda was Garfinkel's student and some thing Don Juan was based on Garfinkel himself. Like, what a wild crossing of paths.

Id you'd like some Aotearoa New Zealand research on how transphobes (specifically terfs) argue in real life, actual conversations to help you prepare for doing the exact opposite of what Grieve is saying, I can (with noted bias) recommend these, readable here www.researchgate.net/profile/Elle...

Of course...but I think Greiffenhagen and Sharrock are saying that Garfinkel was interested in this question in a kind of instrumentalist way (as a practical matter) - and that was the impression I got from a keynote he did at iiemca years ago.

The dam is "Western gender ethnomethodology," but it's dissatisfying to beat "gender critics" over the head with Sociology 101 when they're actively refusing to perceive reality.
It was also too wordy for a meme.

Managed to find a copy of Studies online from an NZ secondhand bookstore and it arrived today. Yay! Finally have a copy. The yellow sticker suggests it found its way here from UCLA at some point. There was also a flyer inserted into it. Open it up... It's on the first page of the passing chapter lol
