The latter strategy works if you're a boutique law firm, boutique IB, or a commercial bank, where you can poach burnt out early-mid career employees from white shoe employers into a role where their experience crosses over 100%.

But it doesn't work if they need a significant level of training.

if job seekers have to provide references as part of the hiring process, why don't employers have to do the same? job seekers should be able to ask prior employees about their experience with the company.

Finally, if you aren't LGBTQ+, be an ally. Stand up for your friends who are, vocally. Fly the flag. Sign every petition you are asked to. Report ALL cases of workplace transphobia to employers. March with us. Speak out when cultists tell lies or abuse reputations. Help us!
For a better 2026.

Doesn't it ultimately make regular locals poorer to have to compete against foreigners with second-class status, who will be preferred by employers since they can't object to mistreatment?

We recently spoke (he’s due to retire). We have health ins.; he learned our ins. benefits would cost us $20,000 if we weren’t in our employers’ retiree group.

From my narrow perspective, some yt folk are a selfish lot too.

I wonder if today, he wished my vote counted this shit ain’t over yet?

Does that apply to race to? Should people not have rights based on their race? Should employers be able to have discriminatory hiring practices based on race?

Yeah, I left sadly in March this year :( Mostly due to my mum's situation (stage 4 cancer), but also my employer lost the contract where I worked, so I was out of work, and despite applying for jobs, I never got them, after being ghosted twice by two employers I saw the writing on the wall. Sad.

Which might seem fine until you get fired from your job for liking a post that criticises a company that is also owned by your current employers.

Then you might think it is bad.

Saw a LinkedIn article shared here that Irish employers are losing employees due to housing crisis. I obviously agree we need more housing. But the job market in IT is the worst I've seen in 33 years so I'm dubious about these employers unable to find people.

Some of the editing work I do involves documents about workplace harassment. And when I'm deep in one of these projects, it often strikes me just how much rotten shit people put up with because they want to remain employed in a specific place. Employers just have *so much power.* ...

Tell that to employers. Especially out here in the Midwest where ice storms are nearly a daily occurrence. In their words, "if we closed and let everyone stay home every time there was bad weather, we'd never make any money because we would be closed more than we would be open"

So many of us have imagined situations where someone would be given access to a wide open system and then told don't do X verbally or not told they can't do X and have it recorded in some unknown policy allowing employers to get casual users of systems in deep trouble. 5/n

i've been homeless.

i've been trapped in abusive relationships (financially & physically)

I was bullied relentlessly at school, in workplaces, by employers and others.
