New Book - The Rough Poets: Reading Oil-Worker Poetry
How does it feel to be a worker in an oil-and-gas industry and a Canadian petrostate amid the climate crisis and the early stages of a transition away from fossil fuels?

This is why I lighten up on digital humanities: the problem is artificial scarcity. Besides, as someone who does a trending subfield ( #ecocrit and #envhum) I still had to go around the world to find stable employment. Being in the "right" subfield at the right time won't meaningfully help.
I’ve said before that subfield trends in history hiring are normal and their meaning is distorted and thus easily misrepresented because the job market is nearly nonexistent. A handful of jobs in one subfield looks like a total shift in the discipline, and becomes culture-war fuel. I stand by this.
