We can't believe #EESTCBio is over! 😱

Thank you to the organisers, speakers, and participants for creating such a vibrant space for critical thinking. It was a joy to see you exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and explore new perspectives 💡

We hope to see you again at the next edition! 👋

The four days of "Theory and concepts in biology" finish with a round table discussion on biology's biggest challenges. Some common themes emerged: how to deal with biological complexity? How to understand levels of organization? Which features make life unique? #EESTCBio @events.embl.org

Good morning from #EESTCBio! We're kicking things off with a great group moment from yesterday’s woodland walk. Big thanks to Lucas Morales Moya for taking the photo!🌲🌳

Did you also enjoy the walk yesterday? 🚶‍♀️

During #EESTCBio day 2, we enjoyed a woodland walk while we debated about the unsolved biological problems we will be facing in a few years' time. It was also a great time to get to know each other 🙌🏼

We're back in the auditorium after an invigorating woodland walk around EMBL 🚶‍♀️🌳 Up now at #EESTCBio is Hernan Garcia with 'Using physics as a microscope to dissect transcriptional dynamics in development' 🔬

After three years do we finally have a definition of what is a theory? Or more importantly, why biology continues to confound physicists...? (By James DiFrisco)

The long wait is over! We are back @embl.org with Theory and Concepts in Biology II.

Where else can you hear about single cell learning, 2mm long insect sperm, and evolution of novelty in flower petals all in the same afternoon?? #EESTCBio

a perfect discussion topic for our EMBL Theory and Concepts in Biology 2025 meeting @events.embl.org starting tomorrow??! #EESTCBio
That one resonates deeply with me. I think I am firmly on the side that experiments come before theory (which is why reducing experimental science funding is a terrible idea)

Does it lead or follow experiment ….
