also great: extremely motivated + nice participants! there also were tracks for: FieldTrip + EEGLAB + Brainstorm, the other toolboxes for MEG/EEG, with instructors interacting well, no animosities, great community.

all orchestrated by great team behind @cuttingeeg.bsky.social ❤️🙂 #PracticalMEEG2025

Clinical applications are discussed around sleep, anxiety, & autism, along with ASMR as an analogue for taVNS. As well as future tests of the model, including using EEG & MEG with specific predictions re ROIs and oscillatory dynamics - which are indeed tested in our upcoming EEG-MEG study! 🧠 5/5

I always learned a great deal from simulating data (aka mostly how things don't really work the way they are advertised 🙃).

so I can definitely recommend playing with this toolbox for simulating EEG/MEG sources with desired properties (location, coupling) for connectivity. ⬇️
We (I and @willenjoy.bsky.social) created a toolbox for simulations of EEG/MEG because we needed to simulate data. Our initial aim was to simulate connectivity. For this short clip, I simulated two sources with phase connectivity using our toolbox.

Simulations are fun! Especially with the right tools😉.
@willenjoy.bsky.social and I (with support from Mina Jamshidi) made a toolbox for simulating EEG/MEG data

I put together a quick simulation using it for this short clip. Took me 10 minutes (no, really!)

In our Trends in Cogn Sci paper we point to the connectivity crisis in task-based human EEG/MEG research: many connectivity metrics, too little replication. Time for community-wide benchmarking to build robust, generalisable measures across labs & tasks. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

One thing I'm learning from #neuromatch2020 is that every researcher has its own favorite method to measure brain activity. If you are an EEG guy, fMRI is too unreliable. If you are an MRI chap, EEG is too noisy. If you are an MEG person, EEG can't penetrate the skull enough. 1/2

Shared resources include 7 double-walled sound booths, a fully anechoic chamber, 3 free-field sound arrays, EEG, fNIRs, and eye-tracking systems, and state-of-the-art stimulation/recording equipment. MEG and MRI are possible via local, national, and international collaborations.

Well you brought up those methods as superior to fMRI for HOW qs and I pointed out that they not. If you want to answer at the mm level in humans you will usually need fMRI (apart from some edge cases). Sometimes w other methods like EEG, MEG, TMS etc.

In EEG & MEG experiments (n = 82), participants made perceptual decisions in three different tasks:
 • Temporal categorization
 • Delayed match-to-sample
 • Cross-modal discrimination
Across all, a beta frequency shift in the prefrontal cortex predicted the chosen category.

EEG & MEG signals can be decomposed into waveforms using Fourier analysis, which produces a power spectrum of frequencies. In practice, it can not apparent for how long should we record the signal since in theory Fourier transform assumes that signal is analyzed over an infinite duration of time./25
