Another fieldwork #ProTip is to use #citizensci apps like @inaturalist , @Team_eBird and #EDDMaps to record data. All let you add photos, and the data is synced instead of having to transcribe!

Never mind. Not reporting an invasive Mimosa tree in an Oklahoma park. It requires use of iNaturalist or EDDMapS and I limit the number of apps on my phone for mental health.
No ponies at George Sibley (briefly a St. Louisan
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_... Equestrian Campground. Walked around, no ponies for a very long time from the looks of it.

Did find and will report an invasive Mimosa tree www.okinvasives.org/mimosa at that campground.

I prefer using this site to determine invasiveness, which includes the EDDMapS map of how it's being reported. This means it's being reported in the wild, has nothing to do with getting it regulated in the state

Invasive distribution is hard to accurately cite due to limited survey information, gaps in understanding, and expanding NA ranges. It takes an average of 40 years to get official status. In China, Burning bush grows in forests, woodlands, and scrublands.

Be on the look out for stiltgrass! This plant is not known to be in MN yet but is a species of concern.

🤳 If you find stiltgrass, please report it to EDDMapS.
🥾 Brush off your shoes/boots before entering or leaving a natural area.

One of the difficult things about studying rosy reds in Alberta is that the fathead minnow naturally occurs here but has the same species name as the rosy red. Invasive species reporting tools like iNaturalist and EDDMaps cannot distinguish between then.

They also found some really cool citizen science & field data collection apps like @PlantNetProject, @EDDMapS, @inaturalist, & @Falling_Fruit.
