Their latest documentary “Escaping Libya’s detention Industry” was screened as part of an event co-hosted by ECCHR. The following debate unpacked the crimes against humanity committed against people on the move, focusing on how EU migration policies enable and entrench these crimes. What Allison West legally identified as a “common plan to violently prevent migration across the mediterranean”, is currently most visible in the collaboration between Italy and Libya. However, other EU-countries like Germany are equally involved: for example, by training and financing the so called Libyan Coast Guard in the framework of the European Union Naval Force Mediterranean. Eleven former Syrian employees of French cement company Lafarge submitted a criminal complaint against Lafarge.

For years, Pakistan has experienced the destructive force of extreme weather events due to climate change: floods, droughts and heatwaves have destroyed crops, infrastructure and livelihoods. In the summer of 2022, the country suffered its worst climate-related disaster on record: heavy, persistent rainfall flooded approximately one third of the country. 43 farmers from three villages in the Sindh region of Pakistan that were particularly affected by flooding are demanding compensation from RWE and Heidelberg Materials.
