When tasked with the mental health of an individual, these assumptions about their behavior can be significantly detrimental. @DrWilliamSharp #TalkingHelps

A possible caveat to patients having access to their therapy notes is misinterpretation - habitually, the therapist may decide to craft a note to be understood by themself only, leading the patient to derive an unintended meaning from the note, and thereby compromising care. @drwilliamsharp

Eye-opening that CBT leaves so many still struggling. Could the real therapy be less about steps in a manual and more about the relationship of being seen + understood? #Psyc4666 @DrWilliamSharp

Some therapists are moving towards a medical model of sharing their session notes with patients. Within a profession that focuses on intangible concepts such as feelings, which I believe still remains far away from medical understanding, we should remain cautious about this idea. @drwilliamsharp

Something I was wondering about after doing the Shedler reading is what research has shown about the more "traditional" therapies the reading defends, and why that was not included by Shedler. I was also wondering about how the author and the studies were defining "effective." #DrWilliamSharp

Shedler’s advice stuck with me: don’t just trust the claims, ask for the study + read it yourself. Significance does not equal real-world impact. #Psyc4666 @DrWilliamSharp
