posting two more doomwitch excerpts. this really might be my fic of all time. the dialogue felt so good, and bringing moros’ keepsake back but differently is my magnum opus
text screenshot: "Hmm?" Moros hums curiously. "Gold for your thoughts, Princess?" She faces him. When had she gotten so close? His chin is right above her head, and he looks down to stare directly into her burning and ghostly eyes. "I was thinking about your keepsake," she says, blush blazing across her skin. "I like knowing that you're there. Or at least, it feels like you are. I know I have to come back nearly in the same moment, but just then, it feels like your arms are—" she breaks off, looking down. The bottle is back in her hand and takes two gulps from it. "I am there." He reaches out to draw her into his side, careful of her still-mending injuries. Would that her method of returning brought her back without wounds. "More soul than muscle, I fear, but I am with you." Knowing you'll be there softens the blow a bit. Doesn't protect my pride, though." His laugh is so gentle she can barely feel it in his chest where she leans against him. "I find you as striking and defiant and resilient as I have since our first meeting — even moreso now. No end of the night could touch that image of you. I'll catch you when you fall, Princess." Despite the tremulous vulnerability, there's a teasing lilt in his voice and she loves it and the strength of how much she loves it has her sending a quick plea to Aphrodite to stop her if she's been imagining something that isn't there before she's surging up to kiss his curved lips. Somewhere, the goddess laughs. text screenshot: "You'll stay?" she asks, pressing her face into his shoulder. She blinks, eyelashes brushing over his skin until the muscle jumps. "Sorry." He's the one to laugh now, and the rumble from his chest prompts half a giggle and half a sigh from her. "I'Il stay as long as you wish." "All night." She doesn't hesitate to request it of him, but, well. "I might not be able to sleep, though." A peek reveals the strong line of his jaw through her eyelashes. "Sometimes I can't." Moros shifts, humming thoughtfully above her. One of his hands cards through her cropped hair; the other rubs circles over her back. He's cool against her as always, but beneath her blankets, his temperature is a soothing counterbalance to hers. "I have a little trick," he tells her. The rasp in his voice isn't quite sleep. A sleep trick? Could he even sleep? "If you are amenable, of course, Princess." Melinoë nods, her hot forehead passing up and down over his cool skin. Another kiss finds her hair. "Ten," Moros murmurs, still cradling her. "Nine." His hands make slow arcs over skin and fabric alike. "Eight, seven." Fingertips brush over her scalp. "Six, five." Despite herself, she yawns. "Four, three." Her eyes grow heavy. "Two." He's whispering now. "One." At last, Doom brings her to her dreams.

I'm enjoying both Hades games too much. I have my canon mlm (thanzag) and canon wlw (nemmel). And made me like a m/f again after decades of suffering from seeing shitty m/f couples. DOOMWITCH you will always be in my heart. And not to mention Speedboat (Chermes)!!!!! I love them all.
