Holden has fought this facility from the very beginning, opposing it on the grounds that it was never appropriate for the area and was imposed without local input. Mayor Eric Adams promised to close it during his term but failed to keep his word. Holden remains committed to working with his successor in the Council and the next mayor to finally shut it down for good, saying, "I will not stop fighting until that shelter is closed once and for all."
