Everyone tells you to shade in purple. My advice - shade in orange on a multiply layer. I did an experiment but LOOK AT THE COLOR

I swear it gives your art such a more fall-esque vibe

Drawing open mouths can be tricky—let’s break it down! 😮✍️ This is the basic anatomy of the jaw and mouth, all to better capture this expression. :D

Big heads? 👦 Zooooom out
If you're zoomed in on only the part of the character that you're drawing, you'll end up with heads that are too big or too small.
Instead, zoom ALL the way out so you can see the full canvas.

Sometimes your art needs a lil extra oomph, that's where post-processing comes in!! Try this and tell me you didn't have the best time seeing your finished art illuminated! 🌸

Coloring made easy! 🎨✨ Start in greyscale to nail your values first—it’s faster and helps with depth! Try it out and thank me later 😉

Quick tip that saves you time and redundant knowledge

If you ant to check your values, enable windows color filers, AND the shortcut for them

Win + Ctrl + C => toggles black and white (when enabled)

That way you don't have to worry about how to do it across different software

Some more tips on rendering fabric! Specifically linen fabric!

The texture and irregular shadow edges are key! Linen fibers are thicker and less fluffier than cotton, hence their "coarse" touch

I've been trying to get as far as I can with my art using free/very low cost options. I thought someone else might find this information useful.

If you finished the shading and highlights on your character but you forgot the textures, then you need to use the multiply blending mode. Here's how.

Is your original character's head the size of a melon?!

Zooooom out!

If you're zoomed in on only the part of the character, you'll end up with heads that are too big.
Instead, zoom ALL the way out so you can see the full canvas and do a gesture sketch.
