Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa, has eliminated gas and oil and replaced it with geothermal and three 5-ton air-to-air heat pumps. The church is now 100% carbon free, with electricity from its rooftop solar panels and its “solar pergola” over the patio.

Really proud of Team Sand this weekend. Over a year before Election Day volunteers were out in full force knocking doors in:

Cedar Rapids, Decorah, Ames, Fort Dodge, Cherokee, Spirit Lake, Council Bluffs, Des Moines, Dubuque, and Iowa City.

Yesterday's march ended at the Decorah Courthouse, where there's a facsimile Statue of Liberty on the grounds. Erected in 1951 at the height of the Red Scare, I'm sure the original intention wasn't to amplify its true meaning but I heard every one of Emma Lazarus' words as I spent a moment there.

Same thing happened in Decorah - we were under a tree and couldn't see what everybody was going nuts and pointing up at, but thrilling all the same!
