Every time I explain strategic #DDDesign, I do it in a slightly different way.

The order in which the concepts are introduced influences a lot. Today I'm trying:

1. Models
2. Domain Models
3. Subdomains and Types
4. BC and UL
5. Context Mapping

I used to skip Models, and briefly DM

Just published the next little blog post in my series exploring software architecture as living documentation.

Enterprise-wide Software Architecture as DDD Living Documentation

Still at the very early proof-of-concept stage, don't get your hopes up.

Once the concept is validated/stabilized, Domain B builds the interface and Domain A is forbidden from accessing Domain B's data in the legacy.

There's a fine line between a conscious learning and creating tech debt to deliver things quickly. Be careful.

Claude Code has been on fire this week.

I hooked it up to all the domain events produced by our system and it's been helping me figure out issues much faster than I could alone.

Domain-driven design is a differentiator.

One of my software design nemeses is reliance on the UI to enforce business rules.

I don't mean hard-coding business logic in the UI, I mean assuming that certain operations or state transitions aren't possible because a user must go through the steps in the UI in a certain order.

Our book "Strategic Monoliths and Microservices" doesn't categorically (as an absolute) recommend modular monoliths. The key is in the subtitle: "Driving Innovation Using Purposeful Architecture." 1/4

Moving data around vs modelling your business...

One way of designing software is to see it as moving and transforming data. This approach is driven by technical characteristics:

- what is the simplest way to get data from point A to B?
- grouping concepts in a "utils" folder.
