I'm casually exploring the idea of a practical cyberdeck (AKA weird laptop). To me, practical means it's designed around a mechanical keyboard (else what the point), and it needs to be usable on a lap.
To my surprise, there are several combo mecha keyboards and displays, that catch the vibe.

ok i'm beginning to think better of 75% keyboard layouts due to cyberdeck ideology...
oh here we go. I had to search the birdsite for my thread where I cleaned it up and fixed the left bulb.

Our dishwasher stopped working because of a firmware bug. The only way to start it again was to power cycle it ... by flipping the circuit breaker.
GE tech came out, plugged in his cyberdeck, err, diagnostic tool, patched the firmware and boom ... it's working again.

It's typical going to a revised prototype for a Raspberry Pi build that I'm looking for my carpenter's square and all I can find is a flexible cobbler's rule.
(Yes, I sacrificed dead-end Bristol board comic noodling from several YEARS ago. It's gotta earn its keep or get recycled!)

So, I was just getting my geek on, updating some bits and pieces of my ROG Ally in desktop mode, when I found a neat little thing in the context menu.
"Add to Steam"
So, I've added Notesnook to Steam on this wonderfully portable PC. I can write without leaving Deck mode. New cyberdeck build!

So now the handheld #cyberdeck is taking shape. It's a #RaspberryPi Zero 2W with a custom hat with a DS3231 real-time clock and a Sharp Memory Display. Next up I'll add a battery with an #Adafruit PowerBoost 1000. Might be fun to add a few more I²C peripherals.

Dislike! You don’t use the full name of the pc you’re using to jack in. It’s your cyberdeck !

I had to look this up because those are modern "retro" keycaps in an ortho layout and I had no idea what this thing is.
It's a custom 3D printed mechanical cyberdeck made with a Raspberry Pi and I love it. www.reddit.com/r/cyberDeck/...

bluetooth is a scam invented by Big Blue to sell more specifications that nobody can read. working on a cyberdeck sort of thing right now and looking to send packets to the 'net over Bluetooth ("tethering") and am now discovering the dry and desecrated tech stack that is BlueZ networking

#duskos may have happened for a relaxing evening activity. Slowly converging on a cyberdeck (+ writerdeck) build but I'm waiting on the PiSugar3.

Dangit this is not good news for my cyberdeck project :(
(And probably dozens before me who've had the same idea)

Here’s a primer on ‘primer.’
It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”
It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”

I've built a tiny hand-held #keyboard. It's like Meta EMG wristband (www.youtube.com/watch?v=wteF...) but actually working.
Also comes with instructions on building your own one! github.com/mafik/keyer/

Vinnie has his monowires, which he hasn't named. Aside from those, his most commonly used guns during the game are Jackie's pistol (which already has a name) or Malorian Arms 3516, which he hasn't named. But really, he uses weapons, any weapons, far less than he uses his cyberdeck.
Hope all our chooms are having as nice a day that our beautiful Night City offers! Here's todays #2077qotd!
Out of your V or #Cyberpunk2077 oc's entire arsenal - is there a weapon they reach for first? A weapon that's their baby, that they can always rely on? (... did they name it?)

For the last few years I've been working on a cyberpunk rogue-like deckbuilding game. You explore a hostile 'net with your cyberdeck: a deck of playing cards you cut and draw on and use other cards to represent ICE.
It's called CARD DRIVES and there's a free demo:
