Fun bet on scientific prediction :)

Take-home message resonates well with ideas in #culturalevolution and #developmentalpsychology, mental skills take time to learn, need social input, & they don't mature spontaneously. Challenging to pinpoint their genetics.

👉 groups that use AI Helpers, the variance generated by human exploration is preserved within the group

👉 In the long run, this variance can lead to more cumulative cultural evolution in these groups

Quite pleased with this paper. Usually in #culturalevolution experiments, people choose who to copy. We flipped it so that people chose with whom to share their information. Sharers got reputation increases for sharing, which we expected would allow partner choice, i.e. people share with sharers.
Cumulative cultural evolution is facilitated by relatively indiscriminate information sharing rather than reputation-based partner choice: https://doi.org/10.31234/osf.io/jt8fg_v1
