Pi Squared has launched Devnet 2.0, a major upgrade towards its "internet-speed payments" vision for Web3. The company is building FastSet, a decentralized network designed for uncapped throughput and real-time verifiability by settling transactions in parallel. Pi Squared aims for 1 million transactions per second (TPS) by 2026, emphasizing TPS as claims settled per second, not just transactions. Devnet 2.0 currently reaches 150,000 TPS with sub-100ms finality, providing a developer playground to experience FastSet's capabilities. The platform seeks to enable instant, verifiable transactions with negligible fees, surpassing blockchain limitations. Two DeFi applications, Omniset and OmniSwap, are launching on Devnet 2.0 to enhance cross-chain asset movement. Omniset will act as a universal liquidity layer, while OmniSwap will aggregate DEXs for trustless, lightning-fast cross-chain swaps. This launch is a milestone in enabling peer-to-peer payments at internet speed, according to Pi Squared's CEO. The network facilitates depositing tokens on any chain, minting/using them on FastSet, and withdrawing them on any other chain seamlessly.
