#Criminalization
lol you can't make this shit up, Democrats are actually trying to bring us back to old school weed criminalization for even minute quantities of THC.
More than 15 Senate Democrats join GOP to advance nationwide ban on hemp products, including CBD gummies,

"nearly 10 years, Teen Vogue was an improbable home for...the sharpest justice journalism in the country. While other outlets chased clicks or softened language, Teen Vogue published incisive essays on prisons, abortion criminalization, police violence, & democracy"

Drug prohibition and criminalization of drug use have never worked in all of human history. Your wrong opinion on that subject just makes you look as uneducated as you are.

new: at least 26 unhoused chicagoans have been abducted since the start of "operation midway blitz."

the full scope of people disappeared is likely much larger but is obscured by heavy criminalization, social stigma, and fewer eyes and phones around to bear witness.

This has been a consistent line for leaders in the broad center-left to center-right space across the Biden and Trump administrations. It’s already contributed to the criminalization of protests, the reactionary takeover of universities, and the sale of TikTok in the US to a Trump ally.

Nothing empowers the horrors more than criminalization.

Alarming criminalization of green card holder based on "Antifa Materials" - another attempt to silence dissent and target people critical of this administration

Release Des and the Prairieland Defendants!
November 6, 2025 at 5:09 AM
The point isn't that these materials aren't a threat to an authoritarian regime—they are! But they're also widely available pieces of writing you can likely find in any punk house, activist space, or bookstore. The criminalization of their possession is a criminalization of all dissent.

in light of sandwich guy I am contractually obligated to remind you that jurors can always prevent a conviction by choosing to say "not guilty" 🙂

the power to refuse to convict is espech important rn given the Trump admin's rampant criminalization and repression of dissent (and other freedoms, too)
today in news that makes me say 'wait I have something for this'

specifically p. 203-207 of The Originalism Trap, where I discuss jury nullification

Democrats ought to join forces with Rand Pail on this, because what he is opposing is the re-criminalization of hemp, death of the industry, and loss of over 300,000 jobs

2 in 3 Americans are “one paycheck away from homelessness”

And in Utah they’re building a concentration camp for unhoused people

Modeled after Alligator Auschwitz and serving as a test case for the criminalization and disappearance of poverty

Caused by the very same government that ended SNAP.
November 7, 2025 at 1:44 PM
--how are camp evictions of unhoused people, done with armed city police officers, NOT enforcement and criminalization? Several times for this story, I asked Chief Soto to elaborate on the difference, but never heard back.
November 6, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Also, bullshit on the immigrants situation; wanting to keep ICE and maintain criminalization of immigration is a desire to harm immigrants. You don't criminalize shit you don't think people deserve to be harmed over. That's the entire point of criminalization.

"[N]ew regulations could empower the Federal Protective Service, a little-known police force under DHS tasked with securing federal facilities, to pursue more arrests outside of federal property."

"Among the new rules was the criminalization of protesters wearing masks."

I completely agree—immigrants are an essential part of our society, and the treatment of undocumented individuals should be based on compassion, not criminalization. Defunding ICE could be a step toward more humane immigration policies.

We must fight back against efforts to dehumanize and disappear our unhoused neighbors. Something you can do is to join a local mutual aid or #StoptheSweeps group, to fight police encampment sweeps and the criminalization of poverty.

Chat, does anyone know why calling trans women men and calling for their segregation, defending the destruction of the last property of homeless people, or advocating for state violence against immigrants in the form of criminalization and enforcement of said criminalization would make her evil?
November 6, 2025 at 6:32 AM
There's been several public statements from Mayor Johnson's office & Chief Homelessness Officer Sendy Soto re: protecting the unhoused from criminalization for just being unhoused, & a vow to refuse to aid feds in clearing camps. But the City of Chicago already does that on our own.
November 6, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Trans segregation and oppression, criminalization of immigrants, Middle East policy, what's for you to not like? This is your guy for all things evil as fuck.

As a bookstore that sells pamphlets and magazines, the criminalization of such materials feels pretty close to home. So let's take a closer look at the materials the federal government is claiming tie readers to "antifa terrorism." We can pick out six titles in these grainy photos. 1/
